King Range Wilderness Managemet Plan Underway!

The King Range Staff and I are working on putting together an official plan for managing the King Range Wilderness and Lost Coast.

This plan will address all facets of BLM's management of the area--from range and wildlife to recreation and commercial use.

One important item that we are currently working on is a recreational user carrying capacity for the Lost Coast. On summer weekends it can get quite crowded out there. We have often recently said, "The Lost Coast isn't all that lost anymore."

In the near future there may be permit quotas or other visitor limitation such as exists in many Sierra Nevada wilderness areas.
